In late December of 2006, one of the finest and largest pieces of rough opal ever found in Brazil was discovered. This piece weighed an incredible 186 grams in the rough and contained various layers of color throughout the piece. Found at the mine called Mina Da Roca, in Northern Brazil, it was decided that this piece should not be cut into one large piece, but after careful examination, it should be cut into several unique pieces. As the "Carnival Event" in Brazil represents the diversity of the different cultures in Brazil, this piece represents the diversity of colors and patterns discovered in Brazilian Opals.
